Homeopathic dose: Hi. Metformin SR 500 mg once/day is a homeopathic dose. The fact that you had a sugar of 226 shows you need more. Speak with your doctor. I would titrate the dose up to at least 1500 mg/day. If it's your only diabetes drug, it CAN'T make you go low. And don't forget, there are other excellent type 2 drugs out there (the GLP-1 agonists and SGLT- 2 inhibitors) if the metallic taste is unbearable.
