Delayed vs Immediate: Immediate allergic reactions are typically responses associated with quick allergy mediators such as mast cells, basophils & eosinophils and usually have a distinctive quick pattern of itch, hives, sneezing, mucus production etc (depending on site involved). Delayed reactions typically involve a subset of T cells leading to more prolonged reactions. A classical example is contact dermatitis.
