One study indicates: That abused children who live with their families do not seem to have speech delay unless they are also subjected to neglect. However child abuse effect differs from child to child. 3 y.o. child with delayed speech development can now clearly say about 20 words, may say 2-word sentences, has some comprehension-show my your nose. But can he catch up with his peers? At age 2 his development level was that of a 1 y.o. child.
