Yes: Short term memory can definitely affect a child in school. Especially as he moves to the higher greades where he has to memorize more and more material. A number of disorder can affect memory in children, in addition substance abuse of marijuana or other agents may also cause memory impairements. Essentially a child's functioning in school may be impaired & affect his overall performance.
