Hydrocephalus : Discuss the valve type with your neurosurgeon. Some valves are programmable and the pressure can be adjusted with magnets. Some valves are fixed at a certain pressure. X-rays or a shunt programmer can determine the shunt valve pressure. Some programmable valves will change position after an MRI scan or if an IPad II comes with two inches of the valve.
