Dental implant: A dental implant looks like a metal bolt. Of course it comes in a sterile pack, is composed of titanium, and has a special coating on it to help the bone grow around it (integrate). Once the implant is placed, it takes atleast a few months to integrate into the bond and then a metal post (abutment) is placed. This is what sticks up out of the gums. Then your will get a crown on the abutment.
