Steroid-induced Sx: Steroids may produce more problems than insomnia, like hypomania or full mania in a person with predisposition to bipolar disorder. If sleep deprivation is the only problem, taking a sleeping aid, like Benadryl (diphenhydramine) or melatonin may be enough. Prescription hypnotics would be helpful, but if the mood is affected, seek specialist treatment with mood stabilizers.
