my knee was swollen for yrs. rheumy drained/steroid shot it. lasted 8 months. went to sleep & woke up swollen again. neg bloods but is it ra or simila?

Unlikely to be RA: RA ( rheumatoid arthritis) it is a chronic inflammatory destructive polyarthritis that affects mostly the smaller joints of hands and feet. Usually does not have periods of resolution or remission without proper treatment ( DMARDs and others that are taking every day). Monoarthritis like one knee usually can be due to Lyme or crystalline diseases like gout or pseudogout.
