Sporadic BP increase: No. The disease state from hypertension results with chronic exposure of the vascular system to multiple organs to elevated blood pressure over many (> 10) years. Acute elevations can be caused by stress, pain, anxiety, nervousness, alcohol, other medications. What you are concerned about is the average blood pressure over 5-6 readings. Best advice: get a home blood pressure device and follow it.
