Serotonin : Most opioids have no direct effect on serotonin. However, a newer opiate called Nucynta (tapentadol) acts on the usual narcotic receptors in the central nervous system (CNS), but also inhibits the re-uptake of serotonin & norepinephrine in the CNS which may help with certain types of pain conditions & depression.
