Impossible to say: depends on the kind of pain, on your specific history, and what has, or hasn't worked (or been tried) in the past. I strongly recommend that anyone with addiction history get pain management from a pain clinic which has a multidisciplinary staff (including anesthesiologists, internists, psychiatrists, psychologists, social workers and addiction specialists), usually at a referral center.
