Imaging test alone.: MRCP is an imaging test only. It can check for fatty liver (but a biopsy is usually required to confirm this), bile duct narrowing or obstruction and filling defects such as stones. Tumors can often be seen with a liver MRI along with the MRCP. Infection is not usually seen unless there is an abscess. Inflammation can be seen but the cause will need to be found with other tests.
