Fluorosis: Mild fluorosis is characterized by white lines, streaks or spots. Fluorosis is a cosmetic condition, not a disease. Often, it is so mild that only a dental professional can detect it. No treatment is recommended in mild to moderate cases.

Decalcification: If it's near the gumline, the enamel may be decalcified from the acids that the bacteria that collect there produce. If it's more than six months since your last dental exam and cleaning, it's time to make a call for an appointment.
