Yes: Nicotine can cause high blood sugar so the patch will decrease the effectiveness of Amaryl (glimepiride) but they can be used together.

But why amaryl (glimepiride)?: Metformin is the drug of first choice for type 2 dm. All the sulfonoureas have a black box warning. Insulin is a toxin and should be lowered, not elevated. There are many other cominations, but i avoid this class of medication whenever possible. Type 1 diabetics do not have torso obesity, hypertension and atheroslcerosis asdo tpye 2s!
