Theoretically: the Sulfonylurias do increase or promote the secretion of insulin by the beta cells of the Pancreas and a "wear out" phenomenon has been postulated. Actually the main action of these drugs is to DECREASE the iinsulin RESISTANCE thus making the released insulin more EFFECTIVE in reducing blood sugar! Hope this helps! Dr Z
