A member asked:

Ii fall at work, i had a mri done the impression said, full-thickness to full thickness tear of the distal supraspinatus 8mm.do this require surgery?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Depends: Are you sure they did not mean full thickness, full width or complete tear? Depending on how long ago or chronic the tear is, and whether or not there is fatty atrophy of the Supraspinatus muscle bulk, you might need surgery (especially yes if the tear is a recent full thickness , full width tear with retraction of the tendon, and there is no fatty atrophy of the Supraspinatus muscle)
