Most Likely: If your GF started her birth control pills during her last menstrual period, then backup contraception is not necessary (though condoms are recommended to prevent STIs). Even if she started the birth control pills in the middle of her cycle, the fact that she had already been on them at least seven days, reduces the risk of pregnancy, provided she has been taking them consistently.
