Yes, but . . .: Your protection should still be good but it will never be perfect and you need to do your best to take the pill consistently to get maximum protection. The timing of the pill with sex has nothing to do with its effectiveness. It does not directly interfere with fertilization but works by preventing ovulation in the first place.
