See a dermatologist: Severe generalized itch in the absence of skin lesions is not for amateurs. You may need blood tests, x-rays, biopsies. There are many possible causes for this. The most important thing is the effort to define it. This is not always possible, very frustrating, but you may have a serious, yet treatable condition causing the itch. Indicate that it is urgent and go promptly.
