A member asked:

How does rheumatologists treat moderate osteoarthritis especially at the knees and the spine ? what their treatment plans?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Osteoarthritis: Non-operative treatment includes Tylenol, (acetaminophen) NSAID medication such as Ibuprofen or naprosyn and various types of topical medication. Weight loss and appropriate exercise. Exercise that consists of strengthening the lower extremities modified to avoid aggravating the pain. Wear comfortable shoes with "cushion" in the soles. You can also try a brace. If all fails, see your doctor. Good link: http://orthoinfo.aaos.org/
