Yes: S1 nerve injury often causes calf pain or pain down the back of the leg. A second opinion is never bad, but EMG confirmed S1 nerve injury seems pretty clear cut

Calf(left)pain for a year, recent MRI shows L5-S1 herniated disc and contact of the right S1 nerve root. But Emg/nerve study result came normal. it didn't even show the S1 nerve roots issue. My doc suggests me for ESI. Do you agree?
