Pulp stones "pearls": are hard, bone similar structure that develop in the pulp (nerve location) of a tooth. Pulp stones are very common in the elderly patients (age 60-80), but can occur at any age. This is a completely benign structures. However, sometimes may be an obstruction during the root canal treatment. Hope it make sense?

Pulp stones: Enamel pearls occur on the outside of root surfaces of teeth and are developmental anomalies. Pulp stones occur inside root canals and the cause is uncertain. Canals close over time as the tooth's response to inflammation and as a reparative mechanism in response to decay and \or drilling of teeth.
