Ankle bracing: One of the keys to recovery from an ankle sprain is weight bearing, however it should be done with little or no limp. If you are limping significantly or have giving out of ankle then a brace or taping would be appropriate.

CAN NEVER GO WRONG: You can never go wrong doing something a little extra, especially w/ lateral ankle sprains, which are grossly undertreated many times. 40% of TREATED ankle sprains have lingering problems.
