Chronic lateral ankle instability with a chronic tear of the atfl ligament and capsule. the sprain happened a year ago. pt helped 6 months ago. now mild pain is back when walking and standing. will this be a recurring problem for the rest of my life?

I would consult: a Board Certified PODIATRIST... or an ORTHOPEDIC surgeon with lot of experience with ankle problems. Surgery may be an option. Hope this is helpful! DrZ

Doc said if there's ligament/ tendon tear or rupture at ankle after sprain, i can't walk at all. Since i can walk, it means strain. No need mri. True?
