Typically done lap,: meaning small incisions using long instruments to remove the GB. Timing on surgery should also depend on your trimester. If you're pain is tolerable and you are close to delivering, probably best to wait until post-partum if you can. Otherwise, surgery can be performed safely with little risk to you/baby after the first trimester. Consult with your surgeon and OB to see if it's right for you.
