A member asked:

How quick after stroke should treatment start so that a patient can survive?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Soon: Survival after stroke depends on many factors, mostly on the size of stroke and complications (pneumonia, bleeding etc). Acute therapy for stroke (clot busting medication) should be given within first 4.5 hours of stroke onset. It can potentially help to halt the stroke and improve outcome.
