Unclear: There's no conclusive evidence that hyperbaric oxygen therapy improves stroke outcome. Increasing the supply of oxygen to the parts of the brain affected by stroke may reduce the extent of irreversible damage. But this has not been proved. Too few people have been studied to say whether hyperbaric oxygen therapy decreases the chance of dying or if it offers other benefits.

Not much in US: In the us, stroke is not an approved indication for hyperbaric oxygen. There may be some "private" hyperbaric oxygen chambers which could treat your mother on an "off-label" basis, which means you have to pay out-of-pocket. In japan, treatment of stroke (more than 3 hours after the event) is a treatable indication, but i would not recommend flying you mom to japan just for this reason.

I agree with both: Dr bandyopadhyay ; dr. Zeidman. Stroke is not currently an indication for hbot (fda). I agree that more study is needed in this area before any definitive recommendation could be made.

Hyperbarics Strokes: There is no evidence that hyperbaric oxygen works on these types of problems. There are specialists that do offer this therapy to patients but you should ask about the research results before committing to this treatment regimen. Medicare does not cover this indication, so the personal cost and professional profit can be large.

Not sure: HBOT isn't used to treat patients who have had a stoke. I agree with the answers.
