No: We can't advise you sight unseen and without a proper diagnostic Orthodontic workup. If Orthognathic surgery is determined necessary, "functional" Orthodontics would unlikely get you the same results. Consult at least one if not two or more Orthodontic specialists. Surgery in addition to Orthodontics usually go hand in hand in these types of cases.

Depends on growth: Functional Orthodontics is most effective in growing children. If there is a large jaw discrepancy in a non-growing person it typically requires Orthognathic surgery for proper correction.
