Papilledema: An ocular ultrasound can show optic disk swelling. A CT or MRI scan of the brain and orbit may show the reason why.

Papilledema: The best way to determine if your optic nerve is swollen is for an ophthalmologist to look. Other tests that may be helpful include ultrasound, mri, oct, and visual field testing. It can sometimes be very difficult to distinguish true papilledema from other types of optic nerve swelling. A consultation with a neuro-ophthalmologist can be helpful in this regard.
