Continue with meds: Continue with your Vicodin as prescribed. It is normal to have pain for at least 24-72 after getting your tooth pulled. Everyone has a different pain tolerance. Unless your pain is increasing at which point you should call your dentist, otherwise continue and it should start getting better in the next day or so.

Are you taking: Antibiotics ? As well , with the Vicodin , maintain good oral hygiene , make sure the area is clean , if pain does not subside in 48/72 hours, consult your dentist . The socket might be infected.

Alternate : Vicodin with Motrin every 4-6 hours. Pain and swelling following dental extraction is usually at its worst 24 – 48 hours after surgery, after that it should subside more and more every day and after 7 days stop. If pain persists or worsens, it may require attention and you should call your dentist or an oral surgeon for follow up appointment. It is too soon. Be well.
