Differences: between "general" response and specific individual response must be considered. Each person is different. Not everyone gets activated on Abilify (aripiprazole). You need to let your doctor know so he/she can recommend next step for you accordingly.

Depends on dosage: Abilify (aripiprazole) is an unusual medication as it has vastly different effects at different doses (which vary individually). At low doses (usually below 10mg) it activates and above 20mg it usually sedates. Btw 10 & 20mg is a crap shoot. Over time the medication accumulates often becoming more sedating esp in elderly. Zyprexa is sedating at all doses and just gets stronger with each increase in dose.
