Will amoxicillin kill bacteria that cause tonsillitis, and abcesses from tonsilitis?

Yes but: The most common germ causing bacterial tonsillitis is strep. Strep remains 100% susceptible to amoxicillan But, if there is a large collection of pus, the antibiotic cannot get in to the center of it and abcesses often/usually require surgery to get rid of it.
