Nerve pain: The fascia lata is a connective tissue on the lateral aspect of the thigh that is often harvested to reconstruct defects at the base of the skull during surgery. The posterior branch of the lateral femoral cutaneous nerve can be injured or form a neuroma (scar tissue) that results in painful burning numbness. Fortunately, injections of the nerve can eliminate the pain. See your neurosurgeon.
