A member asked:

If my thigh is still numb since i had mitral valve repair surgery back on september 14, 2011 does that mean that my nerves will not heal?

Dr. J Roberts answered

Where on thigh?: Entire, lateral, medial, posterior? The thigh is innervated by multiple nerves: femoral, sciatic, lateral femoral cutaneous, genitofemoral... Did you have a central line or arterial line in the groin on that side during your mvr surgery? A groin ultrasound would be a good start...
