A member asked:

Does "prominent appearance of the right renal pelvis and ureter which measures 1cm" from renal ultrasound mean anything?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

It could: When something blocks the drainage of urine from the kidney to the bladder, the renal pelvis and ureter dilate or blow up like a balloon. There is a range of normal, though, and some people have a bigger renal pelvis than others. If it is just "prominent" it may be normal. The more dilated, the more likely there is a real problem. Depending on your symptoms, it may require more testing.
