My son had grommets fitted just under a year ago. can he go swimming without earplugs? he won't be going very deep. confused as there are mixed advice

Mixed issue: Some suggest no swimming in lakes or ponds while the tubes are in place (plugs or no) while they allow swimming in well maintained pool facilities. Most of my patients follow this plan and do well.
