I am going to the doc tomorrow for possible dvt, what kind of tests are normally ordered first go around? i have no swelling, just achy calves.

DVT: Doppler ultrasound would be the test of choice.

Unlikely DVT: Unless you have other risk factors... It would be rare for you to get dvt in both calves at your age. Achy calves without swelling or severe pain could mean other non life threatening issues.

Dvt: The most likely test would be a venous Doppler-sonogram to evaluate the venous system of the lower extremities. This is the most specific and sensitive test for this evaluation
