DVT: Yes deep venous thrombosis usually consist of leg pain, swelling, and occasionally redness although it can happen without any symptoms at all. If you are concerned about a possible deep venous thrombosis the best thing to do a see your physician for an examination and possibly have an ultrasound.

No relation: Dvt is a silent killer...Only with ultrasound studies can you be certain that DVT is present...Pain can be associated with DVT as can swelling...There are several reason for pain and swelling of the lower legs but only ultrasound studies can confirm or deny the presence of dvt.

Not always: Superficial phlebitis has rubor=erythema, pain=dolor, calor=warmth, swelling. Dvt, may be silent , but commonly in the lower extremity will have substantial edema=swelling on the affected side at ankle or higher depending on the level of venous obstruction.
