DVT?: If DVT is considered, it should be looked for, I’d imagine. Your symptoms are consistent with DVT, among other things like muscle pull or Baker’s cyst. Could even be reflective of something wrong with the knee joint. But if a DVT is considered, then you really need a Doppler study.

Pain: certainly a venous duplex ultrasound would be helpful to determine if you have a deep vein thrombosis or perhaps superficial varicose veins. The venous duplex may be negative, and if so you may need other testing to determine the source of her discomfort.
