Ibuprofen: Ibuprofen products over the counter, like motrin, advil, (ibuprofen) etc., work quite well. Pain and throbbing can be well controlled by icing and elevating the hand 4-5x/day x 20-30 min, while lying flat on the back with the hand on the chest on a pillow.
