Warts are from HPV.: Plantar warts are caused by human papillomaviruses; however, the strains of wart virus that infect the feet are generally different from those that are sexually transmitted, and importantly, while the types that infect the cervix / vagina / penis / scrotum / anus may cause precancerous changes and even cancer, the strains that infect the feet generally do not predispose to malignancy.

Yes & no: HPV is a family of dozens of viral strains. Types 1,2.4 & 63 are known to cause plantar warts. None of these strains have been found in sexually transmitted diseases.

One strain: The hpv is a family of viruses that include the 4 strains associated with sex (genital warts or cancer) , the plantar wart strain and many others. Having plantar warts does not mean you carry the strains associated with sex.

Different strains: Hpv 1, 2, 4 cause plantar warts; hpv 6 and 11 cause anogenital warts. So yes, you have hpv, but maybe not the type that will transmit sexually.
