What do you recommend if i take hydrocodone once in a while for back and knee pain?

Don't understand ?: There is no particular risk to taking "occasional" opioid-containing medication for pain, if it was prescribed for you. If you are following the doctor's prescription recommendations, am not sure what kind of recommendation you are looking for. I would consider using an NSAID (otc - Motrin or alleve) if ok with your doctor before considering using the hydrocodone.

Key-once in a while: Hydrocodone (vicodin, norco, (hydrocodone and acetaminophen) others) has the potential to be highly addictive when taken for more than a short period of time-perhaps a week or two. If it truly "once in a while, " then there is probably know harm. I make my living treating opiate dependence, and most patients started slowly, then gradually increased to opiate dependence.
