Eye stye: This sounds like a stye (fancy doctor word is hordelum), which occurs when ducts along the lash line become obstructed. Best management by far is warm to hot compresses to the eye 10-15 minutes out of each hour while awake. Use as hot of a pack as you can tolerate without it being painful, because the warmer the better in opening the plugged duct. Make sure of very good handwashing as well.

Eyelid stye is: The most common infections of the eye. It can be caused by either infection with bacteria or bad eye hygiene. Use a warm water compress or chamomile tea for approximately 10-15 minutes, 4 times a day. If not improvement after 1 week, see your pcp for evaluation ad treatment.
