Several things: First, screen for signs/symptoms of infection, as old neurological symptoms can worsen, or potentially new MS related inflammation can be triggered. High dose steroids by vein/oral can help speed up the natural recovery cycle for relapses which functionally impair you significantly, but do not change the ultimate recovery or disease activity long term. Rest, managing stress, hydration, all help.

Get relapse treated: All significant relapses should be treated ASAP. Choices include oral or intravenous steroids, injections of ACTH, plasmapheresis, and if pregnant, IVIG. Better yet, prevent relapses, by using potent MS meds such as Tysabri (natalizumab) or Gilenya.
