How much time does it take to recover from a lumpectomy?

Not long: If you are vigorous prior to having your lumpectomy, the recovery (assuming you have a sentinel lymph node biopsy and not a full axillary dissection where all the nodes are removed) should be relatively quick. Most patients do not require prescription pain medications after about a week.

Lumpectomy recovery: Most patients return to usual daily lifestyle activities within 1 week of surgery and resume greater physical activity (e.g., light low-impact sports) in 4-6 weeks. Dennis
