Surgical wounds typically heal in 1 to 2 weeks. An infection can delay the healing to 2-3 weeks. The signs of healing include freedom from wet drainage or a break in the skin. Once the skin along the surgical cut has healed, you will have a scar which varies in how it looks. As long as you have no open area or draining fluid or bleeding, you can relax and not worry about the scar.
