A member asked:

One dr says get serial u/s to follow child's kidney cyst with septations & get mri if changes. other dr says do mri now. scared of mri sedation. wwyd?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Difficult situation: Us are quick but less specific with their findings, mri's are quite specific but take time and usually require sedation/anesthesia . Either should be looked at in the context of the problem being studied. Either and or both can be used to follow a problem.Decide which doc you are more comfortable with and follow his/her advice, but continue to ask questions.
