I suffer from anxiety and when i try to fall asleep my left side of my body goes numb and my heart stops. then my body jolts me awake.

You're OK.: Anxiety can make you imagine that the worst of the worst can, happen. Not true in reality. Your heart doesn't stop-- you would be dead. Your extreme anxiety is your real enemy. It is not uncommon to experience one's body jolting awake when overly tired or stressed. Many people do including me. Relax, you are ok. But seek help from psychologist/psychiatrist to alleviate anxiety. Good luck.
