How long ago?: There will be generalized swelling in the area for up to 6 weeks. It might just be that you can see around the tooth in a way you haven't been able to in the past because there is no tooth next to it anymore. If bothering you ask dentist on follow up.

That is normal after: When a tooth is removed, it is not unusual for the tooth next to it to be a little sore. The gum can be a little swollen depending in the amount of inflammation that was associated with the extraction tooth! that swelling should go away in a few days!
