A member asked:

A few years ago went to emerg with resp of 40 heart rate 90 and carpopedal spasm, my hands were clawed inward and couldn't move arms. stroke? mi?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Not necessarily...: Carpopedal spasm could have happened as a result of acute loss of co2, when you were hyperventilating for some reason; especially if your muscles were sensitized (genetically, or chemically/pharmacologically) a reversible "mini stroke" is a possible diagnosis, but it has to be supported by other findings. Heart rate of 90 is not diagnostic at all. Absolutely not enough evidence to label it an mi.
